Its been a long time!

So... I have been a little M.I.A, if I may say so myself.

Today, I felt a need to talk about why I've been away for so long. I need to share some things, get them off my chest...vent a little. If you know what I mean?!!!

Doing hair is what comes natural to me, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood to do hair.  I have been doing hair since about age 7 or 8 and I feel at times it takes a toll.  I almost feel like when I do hair regularly it takes away the fun for me. It starts to feel more like a task or a job.  See, I work a full-time job, Monday- Friday and during the week after work or on some weekends, I also do natural hair. I really love it. I enjoy the different textures, curl patterns, style possibilities, making my own products, and the people. But, after a period it starts to get to me.  Not, really sure I have the right word to use to explain the dilemma, but there is definitely a dilemma that I want to be able to push pass.

This talent and gift I have is it necessarily my purpose?  At times it feels like it is and other times I'm not too sure.  I've also come to the understanding that it may just be my vehicle to my higher purpose...
Either way, I know I'm blessed by the best. I will always do hair,  just not sure to what capacity. So,  for now I'll just go with the flow and see where it leads me.  Thanks for listening, fam ;)

Day 4- Little Lady Loc Lover journey...head scarf drama 12/31/14

Not much going on with Lani Loves' locs.
She's still loving her style, just a little less styled at this point...Lol...she's a little rough on a hair-do, but loves to be cute?!!! Sounds like a oxymoron too me! Lol!!!

So...I'm thinking about how many other little Lady Loc Lovers struggle with this? You know...not wanting to tie up your locs at night, not sleeping on a satin pillow case, getting all type of lint in locs, not moisturizing locs daily, the list goes on & on with annoyances associated with locs. So, let's talk about the #1 concern of ours. #1- tying up Lani loves locs every night!!! And keeping the scarf on!!!

Of course, little lady doesn't realize how important just simply tying up her locs can cut back on the amount of lint that gets trapped in her locs & also maintain moisture through out the night. I try to stay on her to tie her hair up at night by herself, but in the morning, I see it just wasn't as important to her. So, I just give her the 411 of the importance of tying her hair up for the millionth time. Lol. I know I sound like a recorder to her because she already knows this information. I'm determined to drill it in! Any suggestions on how to better handle this task? She is almost 10 & me doing it for her every night is not always possible because of my work schedule.

S.O.S.momma in distress!!! Lol!!!

Day 1- "Little Lady Loc Lover- LLLL" wash day 12/28/14

Here's to day 1...yay!!! We had fun & we know it's more where that came from. This is only the beginning! Lani ๐Ÿ’œ was awesome as usual, as she got all dolled up. She really loves her locs & gets excited when she notices that she gained length. Check out the process. Click on link now for video.

Little Lady Loc Lover loc butter in the making...ingredients: mango butter, EVOO,honey, coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, apricot oil, wild root, lemongrass EO, Ylang Ylang EO, Sweet basil EO, rosemary EO.

Lani ๐Ÿ’œ before wash process. Ready, set, go....

Step 1: rinse locs for at least 5 minutes with warm water to help lift embedded dirt & lint, then apply Aunt Jackies "Heads up" moisturizing and softening shampoo

Aunt Jackies "Heads up" moisturizing and softening shampoo smells great with a smooth, thick, rich creaminess.

Step 2: lather up... This shampoo lathers real well, not much is required.

Step 3: Rinse, rinse , rinse...

Step 4: after washing with Aunt Jackies "Heads up" moisturizing and softening shampoo then conditioning with Jason's Restorative Biotin, towel blot hair.

Step 5: gather items needed to begin loc maintenance process... Small clips for holding loc roots while drying, big clamps for keeping excess hair out of the way, towel for wiping drips, Shea Moisture kids hibiscus & coconut extra- moisturing detangler, & our own "LLLL" loc butter

Step 6: spray Shea Moisture kids hibiscus & coconut extra- moisturing detangler to locs. This spray has great coverage and not a lot is needed to be sprayed. Great as leave in conditioner. Smells great too!

Step 7: gather hair up and out of way. Separate a small section to begin working with.

Step 8: take 1 loc at a time, smooth down stray hairs while applying the loc butter to root.

Step 9: Palm roll the loc after applying loc butter to root and use small clip to hold loc in place while drying.

Step 10: allow locs to dry with clips still in before manipulating them. Air drying or heat drying is appropriate. I chose air drying because I've never used heat on Lani๐Ÿ’œ locs. I'm sure one day I'll invest in a hood dryer as an investment for days we don't have time for air drying. ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ

Step 11: after locs dry, take out clips, oil scalp, style &  pin into place.

Step 12: finger part locs so that twisting up to side looks uniform with same size parts & twist.

Finished look!!! Lani๐Ÿ’œ did great & represented for Little Lady Loc Lover๐Ÿ‘‘
